Fine Point Italic

Dear Members and Followers,

Looking for something other eating chocolate over the Easter break? 

The come along and learn Fine Point Italic with us.

This workshop will take us on a new approach to Italic. We will use fine point nibs with the established letterform. You will need to bring your usual calligraphy gear with an A3 layout  pad
* fine nibs - either a William Mitchell No.6nib or a Speedball No.6 nib
* a post office nib
*0.4 mm fine liner or others
* some colours, gouache or inks, gel pens, colour pencils

Saturday 15 April 10am to 4pm
Cost is $40.00 for members and $45.00 for non-members. Please email us for the booking form.

A Splash of Colour

Dear Members and Followers,

Our Calliarts for April brings you 'A Splash of Colour!' with Gloria Scott


This is another chance to "let your hair down" and play with colour
using inks, paints, brush-tip markers, broad edges and pencils to create
shapes, movement, background, impact and/or interest to your page.
Personal choice about your hair.

 Materials List:
  In addition to inks, paints, brush-tip markers, and pencils – 
* few pages of cartridge or drawing paper * automatic pens if you have any * broad edge pens or other (Duo etc.) * a short quote * water jar and paper towels.
Please do not stress about these pens etc., as Gloria has several for you to try.

Just arrived in the Library -

The Colophon produced by the ASC has an article on Denis Brown (Visiting Aust. in May) by Calligraphy Master (part 1); an interview with Lorraine Brady from Nelson, New Zealand (www.lorrainebrady.co.nz); and Colours in Manuscripts of the Medieval Period - Symbols of colours and why they were use by Pat Moody.


The Dancing Pen from Tasmania has reports on 'Bring Your Own Projects' and on the SSIW 'Brody Neuenschwander - Text creating Texture' and 'Writing the Ramsay Psalter'.


Finally from New Zealand, there is a workshop report on 'Contemporary Copperplate'; about a website called 'Calligraphy Masters' at www.calligraphymasters also on Facebook. There are some Christmas Crafts to make, a profile of Rose Browning and another report on a Calligraphy Retreat and Artwork.
